Welcome to Health & Sci Town. These terms explain the rules for using our website, healthandscitown.co.uk, and for joining and taking part in our community. By using the website or joining the community, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. Who we are
Health & Sci Town is a community for young people pursuing careers in healthcare, science and entrepreneurship. The website and community are run by Health & Sci Town.

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Health & Sci Town. "You" means anyone using the website or taking part in the community.
2. Who can join
The community is open to people aged [13 / 16 / 18] and over. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian knows you are joining and is happy for you to take part.
When you sign up, you agree to give us accurate information and to keep it up to date. You're responsible for keeping any login details private.
3. Community guidelines
Health & Sci Town exists to support and lift each other up. When you take part — on the website, in our online spaces, at events or in any group chat we run — you agree not to:
harass, bully, threaten or discriminate against anyone
share anything unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, violent or misleading
share other people's personal information without their permission
pretend to be someone else or misrepresent your qualifications
spam, advertise or sell to members without our permission
share confidential patient or clinical information of any kind
try to hack, disrupt or misuse the website or its systems
contact younger members privately in a way that is inappropriate
We may remove content, suspend or remove anyone from the community if we reasonably believe they have broken these guidelines or put other members at risk. Where there is a safeguarding concern, we may share information with parents/guardians or the appropriate authorities.

4. Not medical, legal or financial advice
Content on this website and in our community — including posts, talks, resources and anything shared by members, speakers or partners — is for general information and inspiration only.
It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Never ignore professional advice or delay getting help because of something you read here. If you have a medical concern, speak to your GP, call NHS 111, or call 999 in an emergency.
Likewise, careers, university, business or financial content is general guidance, not professional advice tailored to you. Always check important decisions with your school, university, employer or a qualified adviser.
Members' and guest speakers' views are their own and don't necessarily reflect ours.
5. Events and opportunities
We may run or share events, workshops, mentoring, internships and other opportunities. Details (dates, venues, speakers) can change, and we may need to cancel or rearrange things. We'll let you know as soon as we reasonably can.
Where opportunities are offered by partner organisations, their own terms apply, and we aren't responsible for how they run them.
If you attend an in-person event, please follow the venue's rules and any instructions from our team. We may take photos or videos at events — we'll tell you beforehand, and you can let us know if you'd prefer not to be included.

Some memberships, events or products may be paid. Prices and what's included will be shown before you pay. Payments are processed securely by [Squarespace / Stripe / PayPal] — we never see or store your full card details.
If you buy something online as a consumer, you normally have 14 days to cancel and get a refund under UK consumer law. This doesn't apply to event tickets for a specific date, or to digital content once you've started accessing it with your agreement. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
7. Our content and brand
The Health & Sci Town name, logo, website design, text, graphics and resources belong to us or the people who licensed them to us. You can view and share our content for personal, non-commercial use, as long as you credit Health & Sci Town. You can't copy, sell, or reuse our content or brand for commercial purposes without our written permission.
8. Content you share
You keep ownership of anything you post or submit (such as comments, stories, photos or application forms). By sharing it with us, you give us permission to display and share it within the community and on our channels (for example, featuring a member's success story), for free. If you'd like something removed, just ask and we'll take it down where reasonably possible.
You confirm that anything you share is yours to share and doesn't break anyone else's rights.
9. Links to other websites
Our website may link to other websites, including partners. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, privacy practices or availability.
10. Availability of the website
We work hard to keep the website running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or completely secure. We may update, change or pause parts of the website at any time.
11. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.
We provide the website and community for personal, educational and non-commercial use. We aren't responsible for any business losses, loss of profit or loss of opportunity.
We aren't responsible for what other members, speakers or partners say or do, though we'll act on any concerns reported to us.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. If we make big changes, we'll let members know. Continuing to use the website after changes means you accept the updated terms.

How we collect and use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, though if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your home courts.
